Supporting Self Care e-learning is designed for healthcare professionals supporting people with long-term conditions. It will help them give people the confidence and skills to take greater control over their own health and wellbeing.
By the end of the learning healthcare professionals will be able to give expert advice, help people understand their condition and make informed choices about the support they wish to access from the resources available.
The curriculum for the project was developed by the Academy of Medical Colleges in association with the Royal College of Physicians, with input from many other healthcare professional bodies. The materials have been written by subject specialists and experts in their particular field and have been subjected to extensive peer review by a wide range of stakeholder groups.
The session content includes information on skills and knowledge training, tools and self-monitoring devices, healthy lifestyle choices and support networks:
- Supporting Self Care
- The Role of the Healthcare Professional
- Integrating Self Care into Current Practice
Supporting Self Care is available on the National Learning Management System, an e-learning platform fully integrated with the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) which offers e-learning free to all NHS employees with a staff record on ESR in England.
For primary care professionals, Supporting Self Care is accessible via e-GP. Please visit www.e-gp.org for details.
