Warm homes & repairs
Mears, Shropshire Home Services is a locally based home improvement agency, working in partnership with Shropshire Council.
The ‘Safe at Home’ scheme offers a free survey of privately-owned properties to check out any hidden dangers and keep occupants safe from trips or falls, safe from burglary, from fire, keep warm and comfortable and help to maintain homes.
Shropshire Home Services can also help with repairs, improvements or adaptations, particularly for those who are older and/or disabled, enabling them to ‘stay put’ in the community in comfort and safety. It offers confidential advice, support and assistance.
The service is NOT available to housing association or council tenants.
Mears, Shropshire Home Services provides a small repairs service that can help carry out small routine jobs that individuals may be unable to do themselves. There is a charge of £15 per hour plus VAT for labour. Individuals will also have to pay the cost of materials (inclusive of VAT) required to carry out the work.

Personal safety
Care Call / Lifeline
Personal Alarms give family and friends peace of mind and independence to the user.
When the button on the pendant is pressed, it connects 24 hours a day to dedicated call centre. So if there is an accident or a fall, the person can get help quickly.
The alarm works in the home or in the garden so the user can move around freely safe in the knowledge that help is at hand. The light weight alarm pendant can be worn either around the neck or as a wrist band.

Personal data – LIONS message in a bottle
Message in a Bottle is a potentially life-saving scheme. It is a simple idea that encourages people to keep their basic personal and medical details in a common place where they can easily be found in an emergency. It is a national scheme but depends on local funding and involvement of local clubs.
This scheme appears to run at:
